Hand-colored etching by the Ernst Geissendorfer (1908-1993) – a German artist behind many remarkable etchings, especially of the city of Rothenburg. The offered etching is called 'Rothenburg Tor' (Rothenburg Gate). It is signed, titled and annotated by the artist in pencil at the bottom. It includes the inscription 'Original Radierung' which means 'original etching' in German. This work is in excellent vintage condition. Matted and framed.

Ernst Geissendorfer (1908-1993) studied art in Nuremberg from 1923 to 1927, where he developed his talent for etching. He took over his parents’ art gallery in Rothenburg at an early age and dedicated many of his works to this historic city.
