Celadon glaze refers to a family of colored glazes, usually with pronounced and sometimes accentuated crackle effect. Celadon pottery glazing was developed in China over two thousand years ago. Learning from the Chinese over centuries, Thai Sukhothai pottery makers adopted this beautiful jade green glaze, while adding their own original elements. Celadon glazing is made from two kinds of wood ash mixed with topsoil harvested from the rice field. Its greenish color makes pottery products as beautiful as jade.
