Susan Jameson was born in Cumberland, England, in 1944. She is one of the most respected practitioners of the art of mezzotint, having specialized in this rare printmaking technique for over 25 years. Although she is an accomplished painter and has worked very successfully in other media, it is her mezzotint art that she is particularly known for. No screen viewable image can capture the sensual, velvety quality that characterizes Jameson's mezzotints, or the natural color blends that result from her idiosyncratic and technically demanding printing style. Original limited edition prints are not copies of an existing picture, but are fine artworks in their own right. Jameson's editions never exceed 200 copies. The offered artwork 'Moon Tide IV' has only 80 copies. Jameson exhibits widely in the United Kingdom and abroad, and her work is represented in several prestigious international collections. Her artworks are also featured in several books, including 'The Mezzotint: History and Technique' by the American author-artist Carol Wax, published in 1990.
