Wallace Company dinner knife in a rare Irian pattern, circa 1902. Handle is made of solid sterling silver. The blade is silver plated. The knife has the Wallace RW Deer mark on the blade and is marked 'sterling' on the handle. It also has a monogram I.J.W. on the side of the handle.
Irian pattern has an intricate Art Nouveau design, with a nymph rising out of an iris flower and cherub figures. The Irian pattern was designed in 1902 by Henrik Hillbom and is among the rarest and most treasured Wallace silverware designs.
The blade has some expected light scratches, but overall, this antique knife has preserved very nicely for its age. The piece has been lightly cleaned, but still retains its antique patina. The new owner may choose to polish it further with a non-abrasive silver cleaner.
