Fran Scully divides her time between Maine and Connecticut, both locations having major impact on her art. After working with a variety of painting and printing techniques, she found watercolor to be her favorite medium. The artist's inspiration for paintings comes from her admiration of nature, particularly the rugged coastline of Maine and countryside landscapes of Maine and Connecticut. Art critics described her watercolor florals as a mesmerizing combination of fragility and freedom.
