Vintage figurine of a street seller of garlic, hand painted in bright colors. Glazed ceramic, Portuguese faience. Made by Portart, Agostinho e Domingos, Portugal. This figure represents a counter-culture art movement which emphasizes realistic and ironic images in sharp contrast to the exaggerated prettiness of traditional figurines. The inset accompanying the figurine says: "Another caricature of old world folklore expressed in faience and designed for the collector exclusively for Weil Ceramics and Glass."
In excellent vintage condition, no chips or cracks. We also offer a matching figurine of a street accordion player, listed separately.
