Glazed porcelain figurine of a street accordion player, hand painted in bright colors. Glazed ceramic, Portuguese faience. Made by Portart, Agostinho e Domingos, Portugal. This figure represents a counter-culture art movement, which emphasizes realistic and ironic images in sharp contrast to the exaggerated prettiness of traditional figurines. The inset accompanying the figurine says: 'Another caricature of old world folklore expressed in faience and designed for the collector exclusively for Weil Ceramics and Glass.'
Please note that there is some peeling to the overglaze coat at the bottom. Please look at the pictures carefully. Apart from this, the figurine is in excellent vintage condition, no chips or cracks. We also offer a matching figurine of a garlic seller, listed separately.
